The silent night may hit heavier, and the joy may feel a bit dulled in places, but Jesus came for all of it. Celebrating him as light of the world means that even in the places we feel the darkness there is still a great light. Merry Christmas!! We hope you had a wonderful day & we can’t wait to see you in January!
We’ve been learning a lot about trusting who God says he is. Choosing to believe God’s word & His heart for us can change how we see everything & everyone around us. Faith in Jesus is what allows us to trust his character. Feel free to share something you’ve learned the last few weeks in the comments. 👇🏼
“Your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be healed…”
Mark 5:34
Friday was dark. Friday was devastating. Friday looked like the end of everything. BUT Sunday was coming. Sunday was just three days away.
Jesus suffered Friday to fully restore us to him on Sunday. He walked through the dark to bring us to the light, and hallelujah by HIS GRACE we are saved.
Are you letting Jesus bring light into your life?
We hope you are having a wonderful holiday season, whether with your family or your team! We’ll see you back Jan 31!

Do you pick a word of the year? Mine for this year is STRONGER and I feel it applies to FCA as well.
This year we will get stronger than it ever had been. It doesn’t mean numbers or popularity, but in our faith, our hope & our trust in the Lord.
May this new year be a time of reset after two years of unconventional.

As we bring advent to a close— reflect on what Christ coming to Earth means to you.
Go over the story in Luke & really dig into the humble beginning of the savior of the world. He never had to come, but he chose to so he could take our place.
What would it mean for you to trust in Jesus? To believe his word & see his goodness in your life?
As the holiday season comes to a close know that Jesus loves you & he came so you can have a full & wonderful life.
We hope you had a merry Christmas & that this short series encouraged you.

Fun fact: the wise men did not meet Jesus until he was about 2 years old. Scholars actually don’t know how many wisemen there were so we just go with 3.
They brought expensive gifts that they presented to the new king.
Even without money there are gifts we can give to Jesus— our time, our talent, our platform, and our hearts (to name a few).
What is something that you would consider expensive in your life that you could give to Jesus this Christmas?

Over the next three days we will dive into three main aspects of the Christmas story— angels, wisemen, and Christ’s birth.
First, let’s look at Gabriel. The angel visited Mary & Joseph in two different ways & both had to use that information to trust God to fulfill his promise: the Messiah.
Faith is a huge part of trusting Jesus, & it was a key character trait of Joseph & Mary. Even when things didn’t make sense they chose to believe God through his heavenly messenger.
Is it hard for you to trust God when it doesn’t make sense? How can The reactions of Mary & Joseph encourage you when things are hard to understand?

“For you see, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped for joy inside me. Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill what he has spoken to her!” Luke 1:44-45 (spoken by Elizabeth— John’s mother)
Even as an unborn baby, John knew who Jesus was & his purpose was being prepared for him.
The angel told Zachariah that his son would “he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while still in his mother’s womb” & “he will go before him in the spirit & power of Elijah… to make ready for the Lord a prepared people.”
How many times do we feel like we pray & pray for a person or a circumstance to never see it happen— but we don’t know if we are the ones helping to prepare the person for what Jesus is going to do in their life.
John’s purpose in Jesus’ life & in the Christmas story can give us hope for how the Lord uses us and how we can also glorify the Lord.
Let us think about the importance of the preparations for Jesus’ birth— a detail that we so often miss this time of year.

So it’s just a list of names right? I think most of us think that when we first read Matthew 1, but it’s so much more than that.
“The genealogy shows God’s faithfulness to work through ordinary, sinful people from generation to generation to bring Jesus… to redeem a nation.” @shereadstruth advent
It tells the whole story of the Bible from Genesis 1 to the New Testament. It shows the faith of some non Jewish people who became a crucial part of the narrative like Rahab & Ruth.
It’s a complete look at how God keeps his promises.
Take another look at Matthew 1 and dig a little deeper into some of the names. It may just become a Christmas favorite.

Advent: the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event.
For Christians, advent refers to the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. We reflect on the Christian story and how Jesus fulfilled the promises in the Old Testament.
For advent we’re going to share parts of the Christmas story & share how it’s still relevant today.
Today’s verse is:
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.”
Isaiah 9:6-7

It’s been a week all about giving thanks, but how can we actually thank the Lord for being good?
The simplest way to to tell your story like it says in Psalm. Tell someone HOW the Lord has been good to you, and how he has impacted your life. So many times we underestimate our personal stories if they are not grand or interesting, but it all speaks to God’s goodness & THAT is what changes lives.

Is it crazy to think that our faith is a continuation of Paul’s missionary journey? All of us are linked through Jesus & it’s amazing to think we can help each other fight our fight and finish our races.
Who are you running with? Who is helping you in your walk? We don’t have to do it alone.

“Keep going.” We’ve heard it, we’ve said it, and Disney even monetized it— but what does it mean biblically?
It means remembering Christ’s suffering & death so that we can have life & share the life in us because of Christ. It means even when you fail to see tomorrow, Jesus already has it. It means that you can be crushed, but no man has the power to destroy you.
Have hope that no matter what you are going through, Jesus is there fighting your battles.

When you think of suffering do you think of joy? Though suffering is not fun, it doesn’t have to tear us down. One of the greatest joys of suffering is being able to relate to others who may be going through/have gone through the same thing. God may be using your story to encourage or support others even if we can’t see it at the time.
This doesn’t mean that our suffering doesn’t suck and isn’t painful— it just means that through it we are becoming more like the person God has called us to be.
Tell us about a time when you found joy in your suffering.

THIS is what it’s about— meeting a community of other Christan athletes to help encourage you on your walk with Jesus. Even if you aren’t a track athlete we’re all running together!
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.” 1 Corinthians 9:24
